Wings of Peace July 2010 - January 2011 Open Theme Winner! March 16, 1926 Robert H. Goddard, Professor of Physics at Clark University, Auburn, Massachusetts launched the world's first successful liquid-fueled rocket, which rose to a height of 12,5 M (41') feet. The model was built for a Manned Spaceflight display at The Museum of Flight. The combustion chamber and fuel tank heat-shield were turned, of brass and styrene, on a motor tool clamped in a bench vise. The rest of the rocket and launching frame are a variety of wire and rod. The figure is from an old Frog kit. The model is 25.4 MM (1-7/8" tall.)
