This is the Revell 1/720 kit. I've had it around in the stash for quite
a while, and I picked it out as a quick and easy build, or so I thought. In
fact, I had some trouble with warped parts and an ill-fitting nose cone, but
these were surmounted OK. The airship can be detached from its stand; it is
held in place by a tapered piece of clear sprue that fits into a hole in the
lower fin and a pin in the top of the mast that fits into a hole in the nose
cone.
Hindenburg operated the first commercial air service over the Atlantic.
From a hotel window in the Isle of Wight I saw her outward bound one evening
in August 1936, a sight I'll never forget.
