Wings of Peace Racers Contest winner! On March 25, 1935 the plane, flown by its owner, Howard Hughes, set the FAI Land Plane Speed Record at 352+ MPH at Santa Ana, California.  This is not one of CMR's best kits.  I scratchbuilt the Prop, engine, exhaust syatem, landing gear, including tailskid, cockpit interior and added the circumferential panel lines and the outline of the wing root fairings to break up the otherwise too-plain fuselage surface.
